Welp! This week was awesome! We did so many things! Including cleaning up hay/straw and goat poop in a barn! Yup! That's right! Apparently I am a true country girl now! Sister Gibbs was loving every second of it...but the elders and I decided that we will always be city people. The farm life wasn't for us haha.
Nothing else really happened...we took a ton of pictures with everyone in our district because it totally got destroyed on Saturday when we got transfer calls. There are so many people leaving and coming and being switched around!
Here is our transfer news! I will be staying in Lafayette for 6 more weeks and my new companion is Sister Spratling. Sister Spratling came out here with me! So we are both pretty brand new...we will see how that goes! And sadly Sister Gibbs will be leaving and going to Beech Grove (which is in Indy) and will be companions with Sister Reed! (Sister Reed was one of my MTC roommates and I love her to death!)
But that's all for this week!
This is gonna be short because we don't have much time.
We went to the Indianapolis temple on Wednesday and it was beautiful! I was so excited to go! We also had a huge water fight today in the church parking lot with the other missionaries which is why I'm emailing late and don't have much time. :) It was super fun and hot outside! The water fight today was a continuation from our water fight at a service project on Saturday!
But in short it was a super duper fun week!
Love, Sister Griffiths
p.s. transfers are next week but i think i will be staying...probably just getting a new companion!
Well I wasn't sick, but my comp was :( We didn't get to teach a lot or go out much. But we were both able to rest so this next week will be awesome!
Some things that happened this week:
Monday we heard that we would have 2 lessons at the same time (its a long story) so I would have to go with a member and teach by myself!!!! I was so scared!
Tuesday I had to teach that lesson! I was scared out of my mind but it ended up being alright.
Wednesday we saw our investigator Mary and taught her about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon! She loved it and expressed(when we read JSH) that she felt just like Joseph Smith did and was hoping to find the truth for herself! We also saw Rosie and watched the video about the Provo Tabernacle/Temple! It was a super cool story and made me miss provo just a little bit.
Thursday we had interviews with President, which was awesome! We love getting to talk to him:) The sisters spent the night that night because they needed to be here early the next day and since my comp was still sick she stayed at home and I went on exchanges with another sister! And we found a super duper awesome potential investigator! I was so excited because I taught the lesson on the doorstep all by myself!
Friday we had zone meeting which was awesome as well! I learned a lot! I also had my "artwork" (handwriting) featured in the program!
Saturday and Sunday were pretty boring because it rained and my comp was still sick. I got to study, read, watch church videos, do puzzles and eat lots of food!
It was a great week though! Thanks for all the emails and love:)
Love you all!
Sooo General Conference was super duper awesome and if you didn't watch it I suggest that you do!.....But other than that it's been just another rainy week in Indiana! But because of the rain and clouds it has made for some pretty awesome sunsets! (see pictures)
This week was....bleh :/ Sister Gibbs was sick for the first half so we went kinda slow and had to come home for occasional naps. We did have a really cool experience at the end of the week though!! (Plus there was conference...which was AWESOME!)
So on Wednesday we had our district meeting and one of the trainings was from a "guest speaker" Elder Wood! (He's one of the zone leaders) In his training, he promised us that if we went tracting for 2 full hours the next day that we would receive 2 new investigators! I was kinda unsure about this, but its Elder Wood! He couldn't lie to us! So we took the challenge! The next day it was pouring rain all day BUT it was interesting how the rain seemed to stop only during the times we decided to tract! So we tracted for even more than 2 hours, but only got 3 lessons and no one who was actually interested. We were pretty sad but we just kept on going. The next day, Friday, all of our plans blew up and we planned a completely different day! We decided to take our weekly trip out to Delphi in the morning. We weren't sure what we were gonna do. But we went to this lady's house who we had met the very first we got here! She was a potential but we never heard from her after that week. GUESS WHAT?! She was home and immediately invited us in! We talked for a while and taught her a lesson and we are gonna go back and see her this week too! It was an awesome experience!
Well, that was our one cool experience for this week! Oh, and also this cat, while we were tracting, followed us up and down the whole street. It even went up to every door with us:)
Conference was amazing, though! Here are a few of my favorite talks:
---Donald L. Hallstrom talked about being a child of God. He shared a story about a mother who, in a critical time, prayed for strength and the impression came to her that not only did she know she was a child of God from what she had been taught growing up, but she believed it too! He challenged us to ask ourselves if we know it too?
---Dale G. Renlund talked about coming unto Christ. He said, "Drawing nearer to the Savior causes us to change." I also liked when he said, "Life isn't fair. And if it was fair I wouldn't be able to stand blameless before God at the last day. So I'm glad it isn't fair!"
---Bonnie L Oscarson talked about true conversion and how conversion is when you move what you know from your head to your heart. <3
---Shout-out to Bishop Waddell for speaking in conference! He was bishop and stake pres in my moms family's ward growing up and he married my parents! He had 3 main points: Learning about Christ, Listening to Christ, and Walking with Christ.
---Annddd to end the conference, my favorite, Elder Jeffery R. Holland! There's too many good parts in that to say in this email so just go watch it!!! https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/04/media/session_5_talk_11/4829903593001?lang=eng
President Monson also announced 4 new temples!!! Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Belem Brazil, and Peru! Shout-out to Lauren who's serving in Belem right now!
I love you all! Have a great week!!!
Love, Sister Griffiths
