This week was great!!! So many things happened!
Here are a few:
- We had zone conference on Tuesday in South Bend with President Carlson! It was pretty awesome! We learned a lot and got to know what he wants to focus on more! Hopefully these next couple transfers will go well with the changes and different emphasis'.
- We talked to a super crazy and cool guy who was a bit odd but he wanted a Book of Mormon! So that was cool:) They are going back to teach him this week!
- A tornado touched down and wiped some stuff in Kokomo (hour and half south of here). It was pretty crazy! The weather here this week was wacko!
- A huge storm started while we were at church yesterday and at the end of sacrament meeting the power went out and so church was cancelled! Us missionaries had to wait it out a bit at church because they didn't want us out in the dangerous weather.
- SANDRA GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!! It was wonderful! She was so cute and nervous and excited! I also gave a talk:)
- Transfer calls were on Saturday as well! Here's whats happening: Sister Dawes is staying and getting a new companion. I will be leaving and heading down to Westfield! Its in the middle of the city Indianapolis! Its also the ward that President and Sister Carlson are in! I will be getting 2 companions! We are going to be in a trio! So that's exciting...and a little weird! We will see how it goes:)
At church yesterday we had some amazing speakers! I wanted to share a few of the insights that I got!
The first speaker talked about charity and how to show more of it. There were 4 things she listed that we need to do: 1. Stop talking - stop complaining 2. Don't be lazy - if you want something to change you need to be the one to get up and change it! 3. Love everyone - we don't always have to love the choices that others make but we should love them as a person, or at least the potential that God sees in them 4. Love yourself - you don't need to be conceited but a little confidence can go a long way!
One of the other speakers talked about how we can be the Lord's hands in order to bless peoples lives. He told the story about the Brother of Jared (found in the Book of Mormon, Ether chapter 3) and how the Lord touched the stones in order for them to receive light (that might sound confusing but if you want to know more, just read the chapter:) ). Anyways, one of the quotes that I wrote down from him was "The hands of the Lord shines light in a world full of darkness". And that is so true! Christ is the light of the world! And when we are doing our part to become like Him and share His light with others, we, then, become the light that shines in the darkness too! We can bring the light of Christ into others' lives:)
Well, I must be off now! I still have a lot of packing and goodbyes to say today! I hope you all have a wonderful week! Especially those of you going back to school!

This week was so fun! The work was so slow but we had a fun week anyways!
Guess what?!?!? We got a washer and dryer in our apartment! That was the biggest blessing ever! We are so excited for it!
Guess what else?!? SANDRA IS GETTING BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!! Yaayy!!! We are so excited for her! She has been doing amazing! She does all her readings and her prayers are the most precious things ever! I love hearing the prayers of people who are just learning how to! She has been coming to church and is really grasping onto the gospel and you can see the happiness in her eyes:)
Not a ton else happened this week though. We had some fun service at the Habitat for Humanities Re-store, at an organization called Soup for Success (which helps out people in the community that need extra help and resources), cleaning the church building, and helping a member paint her kitchen! We also went to this super cool Amish home that they use as a restaurant and had dinner! It was sooooo good! Everything was from scratch and from their farm! There was also some fun stake activities at the church! So we got to have fun and meet more of the members!
At the activity on Saturday night there was a deaf lady there and I got to sign with her for like 15 minutes and it was the coolest thing ever! I was soooo happy!
Well, thats about all that happened! like I said, a slow week. But this week is a new week and the last week of the transfer (also last week of training my wonderful greenie companion, sister dawes) and its gonna be a week for miracles! I love you all and hope you have a great week!!!

Hi everyone! The highlight of the week was having a smoothie party at our district meeting! It was super good and fun:) I also had to give a training on the Christ-like attribute of love and charity! It was super awesome to study and plan for! One thing that I really loved was this:
Love is just a feeling. But Charity is the action that we make as a result of love.
Some other highlights from the week:
Sandra is doing great!!! We taught her 2 more lessons this week and she came to church! She is scheduled to be baptized in 2 weeks!! YAAYY!!!
We TOTALLY got anti-mormoned this week! This guy was crazy and sit some weird stuff at us. We tried to talk to him but he just got upset and kept saying things. So we patiently listened and then left. I was so mad for the rest of the day but then I got over it. haha
We have a new investigator family!! Theyre super awesome and golden and we had an amazing lesson with them! We are super excited to see them again:)
We had a lesson with one investigator who has committed to us that she is going to quit smoking! Its really exciting because she wants to change but I know it will be hard. We were thinking about giving something up with her and I was thinking about doing chocolate.......
Another investigator dropped us and picked us back up within 24 hours! Hahah! We were so bummed but just let it go and the spirit definitely worked on her and helped her to understand that she needs the gospel in her life! She texted us saying that she needs to be closer to God and she wont let anyone get in the way! She is awesome!
There was 2 baptisms on Saturday!!! And one was someone for our ward! It was so cool to see these people from where they started and how happy they are now from coming closer to God :)
Well thats about it!! I hope you all are doing well! I love you sooo much!
Good luck to everyone who's going back to school!
Love, Sister Emily Griffiths
Hey everyone!!! The subject line refers to a song we made this week for sister dawes' sister who is turning 18. It was a pretty fun night trying to come up with that song on the uke and then recording it!
Anyways, this week was great! He had so many miracles/tender mercies happen!
We had a lesson on tuesday with a recent convert who has stopped coming to church and turned back to old habits. She was talking about how she wanted more direction in life and for some reason I asked if she had her patriarchal blessing (a blessing we get specifically for us to give us counsel and guidance in our life). She asked what it was so we explained it to her and she said"Yeah! I want that!" So we told her she needs to start working on some things in order to get one and were hoping that this will be a good motivation to help her come back to church and stuff.
On Wednesday it was super hot and we didnt want to tract so we decided to stop by some potential and former investigators! While we stopped by one this lady came out and she wasnt the lady we were looking for but we talked to her anyways and taught her a lesson and she loved it and weve been in contact with her all week and are going to go back to teach her! It was a super cool miracle!
Thursday night we had an activity for all the women at church. We did a service project at this place called Soup for Success. Its a place where troubled people or people who just need support can go and take classes and get involved in the community! So we helped make these "soup in a bag" things that they sell! It was really fun!!
Friday was awessomeee!!!! We saw our investigator Nicki and her brother Cody was there too! They are both so awesome and we got to teach them both! Nothing in our plans went the way we planned but it was so cool to be guided by the Spirit and their needs! They both said they would come to church on sunday and we were so excited! Sunday morning Nicki calls and tells us that she is sick and cant come but Cody wants to!!! So we helped him get a ride and he came and totally loved it! He had to leave early from Sunday School class and as he was leaving he got up in front of the class and thanked everyone and said his goodbyes! It was so funny but so sweet! Also, he said the opening prayer for class and he told us that that was the first time he had prayed since he was 6!!!! He is so amazing! And he is already on the path to turn his life around:)
On Saturday we went out with one of the young women to knock on doors! We knocked only on one side of the street down one street (only like 9 houses) and we talked to and taught lessons to 5 of them! It was so cool! We met some really awesome people!
Well...thats about it! Hope you all had a good week too! I wanted to share the scripture
Doctrine & Covenants 6:34-36.
34 Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail.
35 Behold, I do not condemn you; go your ways and sinno more; perform with soberness the work which I have commanded you.
36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.
I love this scripture and I always look to it when Im having a hard day! Remember, God is always looking out for us and wants the best for us because he LOVES us!!!!
Love you all!
Hey everyone! This is gonna be short, so sorry in advance!
Well this week was pretty normal! We had some good lessons and tender mercies of course but by the end of the week Sister Dawes and I were both sick :(
We had a lot of service this week which was fun! Whenever we don't have anything to do in the mornings we go to this place called "Habitat for Humanities" which is a re-store. So people donate stuff (like cabinets, doors, windows...) and we help clean them or find the missing parts and then put them out in the store! So we did that this week as well as help this lady from our ward pack up her house because she is moving to Utah this week! We also went to a classroom to help a teacher set up for the school year to start! It was soooooooo fun! I was pretty excited to get to do teacher things since thats what I want to be!
Other than that we had some cool lessons. We have 6 main investigators:
Nicky: she has been off and on with the missionaries for a while but right now she is meeting with us and we are helping her understand the bible better!
Sandra: IS ON DATE TO BE BAPTIZED THIS MONTH!!! Shes 17 and super awesome! She does everything we ask her to and is starting to gain her own testimony! She is also becoming friends with the Young Women in the ward which is awesome too!
Sereta: was on date to be baptized but she hasnt been showing up for out appointments with her in the last few weeks. But she is amazing! And she has a great testimony! She definitely knows its true and wants to change her life! Pray that we can get back in contact with her!
Julia: we found her a couple of weeks ago and have been having lessons with her every week! She is solid and has the coolest life story FULL of miracles! And her faith and trust in God are amazing! We talked to her about baptism and she is now planning to be baptized by the end of the month as well!!
Jessica: she was found by the spanish missionaries in the area. We have talked to her twice but they were both bried visits. She is an amazing woman and mother of 3! (She offered for us to hole her 2 month old last week and I almost cried because I had to say no) She is searching for something more in her life and I know that as soon as we start teaching her she will soak it right up:)
Bianca: she was one of our finding miracles from a few weeks ago. She is a hilarious lady from Germany! She likes talking to us but were not sure how committed she is yet.
Well I guess that was longer than I was expecting to write! Thanks for all the letters and emails and love! I hope you all are doing fantastic! Have a great week!
