Well, I've hit one month. That's pretty ridiculous because it has hardly been anytime at all, but then I think about all that I've accomplished and learned in that amount of time and its crazy! I know that time will start to fly by. And the days definitely fly by the more we work.
This week was super successful! We've been continuing to meet with Rachel 3 times a week so we can really go over the lessons with her slow and have time for games:) I love getting to make up little games or demonstrations for her about the gospel! They definitely help her to learn faster. We also gave her a CTR (choose the right) ring when we taught her about agency and she was super excited about it! And when we came a couple days later and she was wearing it! We were surprised and she told us "yeah! I wear it every day! Even to school!" She is so cute:) Her baptism is scheduled for March 5!! I'm so excited!
We also meet with Sarah every week. She is 17 and a recent convert. Her boyfriend (from her high school) is a member and that's how she got introduced to the missionaries. She is doing great and is just super excited about the Book of Mormon, so that' what we read/go over with her. We also meet with another recent convert, Victoria every week. She is older and has some medical things going on so she is in a home. But she is super pumped about the gospel and loves when we come over and visit her:)
Wednesday was a pretty hard day. All of our appointments fell through and when we went to try and visit some less actives and tracted no one was home and no one wanted to talk to us. We were pretty down, but the last few days I've noticed the blessings of working hard. Because we continue to work hard and not let the bad days get to us the Lord has definitely blessed us! When we went tracting on Saturday a lot of people let us talk to them and we even found some new investigators!!!!! I was so pumped! I cant wait to get to talk to them again and teach them:) Just like our funny little brazilian elder always says "The Lord will provide".
Thursday was definitely a day that we saw the Lord blessing us. Our car, when we got into it in the morning, had a bunch of lights flashing and Tiwi (this computer box that yells at you if you go too fast) wasn't working right. So we called a bunch of people and ended up having to take the car to the dealership (because its under 30,000 miles). They told us that we wouldn't have it for the rest of the day! But we had 3 appointments back to back all the way across town and then a dinner appointment to get to! So we started calling other missionaries and members who might be able to give us rides. And we had a miracle! We were able to get to every appointment (almost) on time! Later that night we got our car back too and there was nothing major wrong with it so now we have it for good.
One other exciting thing is we finally got in contact with an investigator! The sisters before us were teaching her but ever since we got here she hasn't texted, called or been home! We were about to give up but went to see her one more time and she was there and so was her husband! And their adorable little baby. They were super open and willing to hear our lesson and want us to keep coming back:) We are super excited for them!
One thing that really stood out to me this week (especially with it being valentines day) was a chapter in the new testament about love. Its 1 John 4:7-21. It talks all about love; loving God, loving one another, loving Christ... I've noticed since being out here that the Gospel is all about love. The reason we do everything is because of the love we have for our Heavenly Father and the love we want to show others. Indiana has some amazing people and I love them so much and cant wait to continue to serve them and teach them.
And I love you all so much! Thanks for all the support and love and letters and emails:) It makes me so happy to see that love:)
I hope you all have a great week and cant wait to hear from you:)
Love, Sister Griffiths
P.S. It snowed a lot and I didn't like it...but it is actually pretty beautiful...when I can watch from inside...where its warm and I can lay in bed. But I couldn't do that because I'm a missionary that has to go out and work no matter what:)
OMG I TOTALLY FORGOT TO TELL YOU!!!! I MILKED A GOAT AND IT WAS THE COOLEST THING EVER BUT WE FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE!
