THIS WEEK WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! WE SAW SOOOOO MANY MIRACLES!
Here is a daily recap:
(First, here is a little background to help you understand our week better. Last weekend we made a bet with 1st ward and 2nd ward elders on who could get the most tracting/finding hours this week. The loser would have to buy donuts. Our president asks us to do 12 hours a week but it is hard to do that (and we dont like tracting very much) so the idea was to get us a little more motivated with the competition.)
Monday: P-day!! It was super fun:) and then we tracted that night!
Tuesday: We headed to Delphi (small town a bunch of miles away) to teach our investigator Darci. It was a good lesson about the restoration:) Then we tracted while we were there! We saw some less actives back in Lafayette and did more tracting! We saw this hilarious but crazy less active lady! It was a miracle that she was actually there!
Wednesday: District meeting! I was asked to give a training on using the scriptures:) One scripture that i used to teach was from 3 Nephi 23:14. Christ, when He teaches, uses the scriptures too! I thought that was pretty cool:) I didnt know that verse existed:) We also got to do service at the food pantry! They had a hige delivery so all the missionaries were there! Then we tracted for THREE whole hours! We were so tired but we got to talk to a lot of people and teach! That was a miracle:)
Thursday: We taught Mary! And it was an amazing lesson! She has so many questions and is so open so every time we teach her we actually feel like we are contributing something because we know its things that SHE wants to learn and not just what we have to teach. We also got to see 2 recent converts and had more tracting time! Yay!
Friday: We tracted for 3 hours again! And we got a new investigator! He told us that hes been struggling and sees that strengthening his faith in Christ will help him:) We are so excited! We also had a lesson with another investigator, Ying. She is a visiting professor at Purdue from China! Luckily we have a few chinese speaking members in our ward that are willing to help with the language barrier:) Also it was Sister Spratling and I's 4 months mark! Yayyy:):)
Saturday: We did tons of service! We went to a members house and they have this little granddaughter, Grace, that was following me around and helping me the whole time! She was so cute and would be sitting down to rest and would yell out "EMILY!!!! I found you a flower!" or "EMILY!! Come watch the river with me!" She was so cute and I didnt want to leave:( We also went to Delphi again and tracted some more! We had some awesome miracles with the people we met!
Sunday!!! This was the day that was PACKED FULL with so many miracles! It was definitely one of the best days of my mission so far! Mary (investigator) came to church! AND she stayed all THREE hours! And she really loved all the classes and contributed many comments! Also, Mara came too! She hasnt been in months and has been in and out of the hospital! We were so excited to see her there! Her and her mom stayed all 3 hours too. We also got to see some members and received a ton of referrals from one member! And one turned into a new investigator and the other is a very good potential! We also tracted later that night and we REACHED OUR 12TH HOUR!!!!!!!!!! Whoooo hoooo!!!! The greenies can do it too:)
Well, to go along with all these miracles there was one lesson that was very prominent this week was the correlation between obedience/diligence and blessings! In 2 Nephi 1 alone, it says 7/8 times the phrase along the lines of "inasmuch as ye keep my commandments, ye shall prosper in the land." That is an amazing promise that the Lord gives us and I have never seen it more than on my mission! When we choose to willingly keep God's commandments and do His will, He will open the heavens and POUR out blessings on us!
I hope yall had a great week and have an even better week this week! Always remember that I love you and so does your Heavenly Father:)
