Yup! That's right! We had a baptism this week! And it was so amazing! Rachel was so cute and was so excited to get baptized. We went over to her house Friday afternoon and helped her and her friend from school (that was spending the night so she could go to the baptism the next day) bake cookies and cupcakes to have after the baptism:) They we so cute and we had so much fun with them! The baptism itself was amazing too! There were so many people there that some of the missionaries left so there was enough chairs for the members of the ward.
There was a ton of missionaries at the baptism because a member of the 70, Elder Gay, was there that day to speak to us missionaries in the Lafayette zone (there's 30 of us). He was here because he was invited to speak at Stake Conference that we had this weekend but he special requested to meet with us and talk to us! It was really neat and he told us a lot of important and inspirational things.
The rest of this week was pretty uneventful. But there were 2 other awesome things that happened besides the baptism!
1. We have a new investigator! And it was from a member referral! Pretty awesome, right?? Her name is Mary and she is super excited and interested in learning more. We briefly met her last week so we could set up a time to come and teach a full lesson and when we were there we showed her the Gospel Library app and she got it! When we came back this week she told us that she wanted to start reading and learning but she didn't know where to start! We smiled and laughed a little because she is just so excited about what we have been teaching her:)
2. We have another new investigator! Well, kind of. She met with the sisters that were here before us but we haven't really been able to see her. But we saw her yesterday! And she did the readings that we committed her to reading! We taught her about eternal families and being sealed in the temple and she loved it! We cant wait to see her again.
So this week we had a "Specialized Training" which was for all the new missionaries and their trainers. It was super awesome!!!!! We learned soooo much and I'm just super pumped again to go out and start working! Plus I got to see all my MTC homies!!! We were so excited when we all saw each other! Let's just say there was a lot of running, screaming, and hugging! haha:)
One thing that I loved from Stake Conference this week was the songs we sang! We sang a bunch of primary songs which was fun but you could also feel the spirit so much when we all sang! My favorite was "I Feel My Saviors Love". It says "I feel my Saviors love; its gentleness enfolds me, and when I kneel to pray, my heart is filled with peace. He knows I will follow Him, give all my life to Him. I feel my Saviors love, the love He freely gives me." I've definitely felt that love as I've been out here. It is so strong all the time! And one of the coolest things is that when we are teaching someone I can always feel God's love for that person, and as missionaries we can help them feel that love:) One of the times I really feel it is when I pray and when investigators pray too. It is the sweetest thing to see someone pray for the first time:) They are always so sincere and I know Heavenly Father is so pleased and excited to hear them pray:)
I love you all! Thanks for the love and support. I hope you have a great week:)
Love, Sister Griffiths
P.S. I got an email from one of my MTC friends (shout out to sister burgon) already this morning and she said something that was super funny but was so true! So I had to share!
"Tracting Moment of the Week: There is a term here in Indiana... "Hooziering".... defined as: when someone rambles on and on and on and on and on and on about who knows what for who knows how long....it's wonderful. It happened a few times this week! hahaha We love Indiana People."
