This week I officially hit my 18 month mark! Wowza! Crazy! It definitely doesn't feel like it has been that long! I also finished MyPlan (it's an online program that we do at the end of our mission to help us reflect and make goals for when we are home)! There is an activity/lesson each week for the last 6 weeks, but we had to finish this week because in a few days I will have my departing interview with President Carlson!
Ok, enough of that stuff!
This week was great! I love being a missionary and helping people EVERY day!
Monday we saw Andre (they saw him again Wednesday, but I was on exchanges so I wasn't there) and had a "come to Jesus" moment with him. We had a heart to heart about what he was feeling and where he was at with all of this! It was awesome! He opened up and we were able to talk to him and help him with what he's going through. He is struggling to make any major decisions because of his family, but he has so much faith that we know he will make the right decision when he needs to and that the Lord will help him:)
We also met a new lady, Thelma, who requested for a Bible! We went over to see her and she is so precious! She opened up to us immediately about what she's going through in her life, and it is A LOT! Let me tell you! She is such a strong person because I wouldn't be able to go through what she is. She got pretty emotional, and we bore testimony to her that God is there and that He does love her and would help her.
We also saw Joel again! He is soooo awesome! Wow! He is so eager to learn! We invited him to read 2 Nephi 31 last time and had him try to figure out, based on the chapter, what the 5 steps are of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When we met him yesterday he came with writing all over sticky notes and LOVED the chapter and told us all about the things that he liked from it. He also brought a NOTEBOOK this time so he could take notes during our lessons! WOOWW!!!! (Sidenote: he also gave Sister Jones a hug at the end of the lesson and I died!)
Some other highlights of the week:
- We did some "spring (summer?) cleaning" because our second bedroom had stuff piled up from past missionaries... Yikes, but it's lookin spotless now. We were pretty proud:) We went through all the stuff and I found some real gems.. Including: a piece of dry gum (Jones accidentally touched it), a Velcro zebra print towel, and a velvet heart shaped box with a glass bear inside... ':) why.
- I got to go on exchanges with Sister Spratling (my 2nd companion) this week in Martinsville!!!!!!!! It was SOOOOO GREAT! I love that girl soooo much! We had some good talks and met some awesome people!
- We ate froyo for my 18 month mark and it was delicious!
Special shoutout to my girl BROOKE for getting her mission call! You're gonna rock it girl!
Love, Sister Griffiths
